Answers & Worked Solutions

Question 1 Solution

Step 2: 7 appears three times, so the mode is 7.

Answer: 7

Question 2 Solution

Step 1: Range = largest − smallest = 20 − 5.

Step 2: Range = 15.

Answer: 15

Question 3 Solution

Step 1: Put the data in order: 2, 4, 6, 7, 9.

Step 2: The middle value is 6.

Answer: 6

Question 4 Solution

Step 1: Total = 3 + 5 + 5 + 8 + 4 = 25.

Step 2: Mean = 25 ÷ 5 = 5.

Answer: 5

Question 5 Solution

Step 1: Order the data: 1, 3, 7, 10.

Step 2: The median is halfway between the two middle values, 3 and 7: (3 + 7) ÷ 2 = 5.

Answer: 5

Question 6 Solution

Step 1: Each circle = 4 books, so 3 circles = 12 books.

Step 2: Half a circle = 2 books, so total = 12 + 2 = 14 books.
