8 Years Teaching IGCSE Maths Mechatronics Engineering, UTM 9,000+ YouTube Subscribers

Hi, I'm Teacher Rig

For the past 8 years I've taught IGCSE Mathematics (Cambridge 0580) to students across Malaysia — fully online, always one-to-one. Maths is the only subject I teach, and Cambridge 0580 is the syllabus I know inside out: every topic, every paper, every mark scheme.

The Engineering Approach to IGCSE Maths

I studied Mechatronics Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Engineering trains you to take a complicated problem, break it into small logical steps, and solve each step in order — and that's exactly how I teach maths. No memorising tricks, no skipped steps. Every method is built up logically, so my students understand why a technique works, not just how to copy it.

I discovered how much I enjoy teaching while tutoring coursemates at university. What started as peer tutoring became a full-time calling: helping students who believe they're "bad at maths" find out — step by logical step — that they never were.

Free Math Videos on YouTube

Teaching doesn't stop at my classes. 9,000+ students subscribe to my free Add Math teaching videos on my YouTube channel, Learn With Rig. If you'd like to see how I explain things before booking a class, watch a few lessons — the teaching style you'll see there is the same one I bring to every one-to-one session.

Teaching Philosophy

Understand, Don't Memorise

Every formula and technique is taught with the reasoning behind it. Students who understand can adapt; students who memorise get stuck.

Practice With Purpose

Past paper practice is central to my approach, but every question is chosen deliberately to target specific skills and common exam traps.

Build Confidence

Many students arrive believing they're "bad at maths". Systematic progress and small wins rebuild confidence quickly.

Exam-Ready

Beyond content, I teach time management, answer structure, and mark scheme awareness — the skills that turn knowledge into grades.

Why I Teach

Because the moment a student stops saying "I can't do maths" and starts saying "wait, that actually makes sense" never gets old. Grades matter — they open doors — but the real change I work for is a student who walks into the exam hall calm, because they genuinely understand what's in front of them. You can read what students and parents say in their own words in the success stories.
