From B to A*: Sarah's IGCSE Maths Journey at Alice Smith School

Alice Smith School · Kuala Lumpur · Extended tier · 8 months (Year 11 full year from September)

Alice Smith School's IGCSE Maths programme is among the most rigorous in Malaysia, and Sarah was finding the Paper 4 questions consistently cost her the A* she was targeting. She came to Teacher Rig at the start of Year 11 with a solid understanding of most topics but losing marks on multi-step algebraic questions and circle theorems — the two areas that most differentiate A from A* at Alice Smith. Over eight months we worked through every Extended topic systematically, with particular focus on the algebraic proof questions and the harder geometry that appear in the final sections of Paper 4. Sarah's past paper scores moved from 72% (solid A range) to consistently 88-92% (A* range) by the time she sat the real examination. Her final grade was A*.

"We went to Teacher Rig specifically for Paper 4 technique. Sarah could do the maths — she needed to learn how Cambridge wants it presented. That's exactly what she got."
