From B to A*: Marcus's IGCSE Maths Journey at Garden International School

Marcus was a confident and capable maths student at GIS, consistently scoring B grades throughout Year 10. He came to Teacher Rig in September of Year 11 specifically because he knew his Paper 4 technique needed work — he understood the topics but lost marks on extended multi-step questions by not showing sufficient working or making arithmetic errors under pressure. Over nine months we focused on two things: Paper 4 question structure (how to set out a multi-step answer clearly for the Cambridge marker) and consistent timed practice to build speed and accuracy. Marcus completed 18 full papers under timed conditions in the months before the examination. In May/June he achieved A*, missing only 7 marks across both papers.
