From D to A*: Aisha's IGCSE Maths Journey at Sri KDU PJ
Sri KDU International School · Petaling Jaya · Extended tier · 14 months (Year 10 Term 2 through Year 11 exams)
Aisha came to Teacher Rig at the start of Year 10 Term 2, struggling with algebraic manipulation and scoring a D on her first internal assessment. The gap was significant — she had strong number skills but was lost when equations became more abstract. Over 14 months we worked systematically through every Extended syllabus topic, starting with the fundamentals of algebra before building to functions, trigonometry, and calculus. By Year 11 Term 1 she was consistently scoring Bs on past papers. The final push in Term 2 focused on Paper 4 exam technique — learning to show full working, structure multi-step answers, and manage time across the 2.5-hour paper. In the May/June sitting she achieved A*, placing her in the top cohort for her year.
"We almost gave up on Extended tier at the end of Year 10. Teacher Rig convinced us it was achievable and proved it. The transformation was remarkable."
