Answers & Worked Solutions

Question 1 Solution

Step 1: A = πr² = 3.14 × 5².

Step 2: 3.14 × 25 = 78.5 cm².

Answer: 78.5 cm²

Question 2 Solution

Step 1: V = πr²h = 3.14 × 2² × 10.

Step 2: 3.14 × 4 × 10 = 125.6 cm³.

Answer: 125.6 cm³

Question 3 Solution

Step 1: Curved surface = 2πrh = 2 × 3.14 × 3 × 7.

Step 2: = 131.88 cm².

Answer: 131.88 cm²

Question 4 Solution

Step 1: 1 m = 100 cm, and area squares the factor.

Step 2: 100 × 100 = 10 000 cm².

Answer: 10 000

Question 5 Solution

Step 1: 1 m = 100 cm, and volume cubes the factor.

Step 2: 100 × 100 × 100 = 1 000 000 cm³.

Answer: 1 000 000

Question 6 Solution

Step 1: Total = 2πr² + 2πrh = 2×3.14×4 + 2×3.14×2×5.

Step 2: = 25.12 + 62.8 = 87.92 cm².

Answer: 87.92 cm²

Question 7 Solution

Step 1: Cuboid volume = 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 cm³.

Step 2: Removed = 2 × 2 × 3 = 12 cm³; 60 − 12 = 48 cm³.

Answer: 48 cm³

Question 8 Solution

Step 1: Radius = 10 ÷ 2 = 5 cm.

Step 2: V = πr²h = 3.14 × 25 × 4 = 314 cm³.

Answer: 314 cm³
