Sunway College and University IGCSE Requirements

Sunway College and Sunway University in Bandar Sunway are among Malaysia’s most internationally recognised private institutions, with American Degree Program (ADP), A-Level, and Foundation programmes attracting students from across Southeast Asia.

Sunway College A-Level

Minimum IGCSE requirements:

• At least 5 IGCSE passes at grade C or above
• English at C or above
• For Science/Maths-heavy streams: Extended Maths at B preferred; A required for Maths-intensive pathways

Sunway’s A-Level Science stream leads directly to Sunway University’s Medical, Engineering, and Business degree programmes. Students who enter A-Level Science with a C in IGCSE maths will be significantly challenged by A-Level Mathematics content.

Sunway American Degree Program (ADP)

Sunway’s ADP is a transfer programme leading to US university degrees. It has a significant maths component and typically requires:

• IGCSE with at least 5 passes at C or above
• Extended Maths at C or above (B preferred for Maths/Science ADP tracks)

Sunway Foundation

Sunway Foundation programmes have more flexible entry:

• 3–5 IGCSE passes at C or above depending on foundation type
• Maths at C for Foundation in Science; maths requirements for other foundations vary

Practical Advice

For students targeting Sunway College ADP or A-Level Science: an Extended grade B in IGCSE maths is the realistic minimum. A C will meet entry requirements on paper but will create significant difficulty in the programme.
